Not really a 'new from old' but I spotted this being offered on my local freecycle site,,so I just had to save it from ending up in the landfill site... It appears small from this angle but its really quite large with a very heavy base and transformer.. A real stroke of luck as I've fancied one of these for years but could'nt bring myself to spend over £60 on a decent one , as i've learned my lesson about buying the cheapest ones,, the only problem i have now is the bulb looks like its on its way out, and I've no idea how you go about replacing it,, I'll just have to take the tube to a lighting shop i suppose... over the years I've acquired some handy bits and pieces for freecycle, like those plastic storage trays,shelving ect... you just never know whats gonna turn up.. ..mike.. |

It could be a good candidate for an LED conversion. In the end it may use less heat and power, produce more light, and perhaps even cost you less. |

Those circular bulbs just plug in - 4 pins at the plastic join. Also usually a clip opposite the joiner.. TLC Electrics carry them. |
