Inverter help needed.
philf:
Hi Dek,
I think this is the right motor:

£5.99 inc delivery!
I can't advise on using it with a 12v to 240v inverter but I have a 150w unit somewhere (I think in the caravan which is wrapped up for the winter). If I find it and have time I'll have a look at the frequency and see how it will drive a similar motor.
Cheers.
Phil.
Deko:
Thanks Phil, that would be great. I have a fair bit of time to try and sort something out as the event is not until early July. I will now have a quick look at your link, then kip time.
Cheers Dek. :med:

Hi Dek,
I've retrieved the inverter from the caravan and have connected it up to a DC power supply and to a synchronous clock which has a seconds hand.
It must be running at slightly less than 50Hz because 5 minutes on the clock took 5min 4.45secs on my stopwatch so it's not too far out to demonstrate your clock. There were no untoward noises from the clock and no noticeable rise in temperature. I'll leave it running for a few hours.
The inverter is taking 0.5 amp at around 13.5v. It has a cigar lighter type connector so would need something rigging up to connect it to a battery. I've got it connected from my power supply with crocodile clips.
If you want to borrow it you're welcome. I'm sure we'll be coming down to the garden centre at Leighton on our bikes before July so I could bring it in my saddlebag. You'll have to supply your own car battery!
Cheers
Phil.

Phil, you are a star, I was beginning to have visions of trying to trail a mains lead 200yds across a field, or just not have the thing working.
I don't mind buying one if I know it will not damage the motor or be a waste of money. What make is the one you have ?, it sounds like it would be fine for the length of time I want to run it.
Cheers Dek.
