Pretty!

Rob I have not done a thing on the lathe since the weather warmed up.  :palm: No metal at all. Been cutting wood and building bows and arrows and target shooting. Once snow flies I'll be back indoors.

RobWilson:
Hi Steve , looking forward to seeing you back on with  your lathe build  , its been snowing here  :(

Well I managed to get a wee bit of work done on the forge hood , I am using 1mm galvanized sheet steel to make the hood .

My state of the art sheet metal folder ,

A length of 50x50 and 60x25 flat bar LOL , does the job one day I may make something better .  :dremel:

And thats as far as I got this afternoon , just tack welded with the old MIG .  :zap: I will seam welded it when I get the last section  in .

Cheers Rob

Nice hood Rob, and very authentic looking too! I have a very similar metal folder to you, I have a bench about 6ft long wirh a similar vice at either end, and when I fitted the vices I put a bit of angle iron in both to make sure they were in line. Now I trap the steel I want to bend between two pieces of angle iron, and fold away! You can use a pair of mole grips to give extra clamping force if you don't need all the length.

Hi Phil

I was just thinking about adding a folder attachment to the welding bench , so many projects lol , I am still undecided on the hood extraction . I may go for your suggestion of a venturi type hood .

Cheers Rob

Rob, seeing you working happily on the forge gets me wanting to work metal again! You're doing a great job (as always)!
