Bits for better finishing on my mill??

<< < (2/2)

Darren:
I'd be happy to give it a go Ralph but I have a windscreen motor on it's way.....

Umm, what to do.....could I reserve one for now and if I don't use it I will pass it on.
I have no idea which would be better for our purpose and trying both might be a good idea at this early stage.

It helps that I have variable power supplies for initial testing, after that I'm sure we could make something more permanent that would suit all of us.  :ddb:

Twinsquirrel:
ooh ooh ooh,

Would be very grateful if one found its way into my workshop...

I've been trying to read up on power feed mods just today!

Thanks

That's the idea..... Obviously it'll eat into some of my shop time, but if it makes the finish smoother then it'll be well worth it  :)

Bernd, I was planning on the remote boards being left off! But now that you mention it.....  :dremel:

I'm liking your thinking John but, I figure we all have different machines that would probably need a few different types of drive?

But the electronics side of it, anyone with a clear idea of how that all works will be very welcomed to share with us   :zap:

It'd definitely be nice to have a small data base of motor adaptions for more than 3 types of mini mill though....!

Stew, they'll be in the car next trip over the border  Are you going for 1 or 2 axis?

Darren, you're welcome to have a go, these are all 24V rated and are rated on the operators at a minimum of 500N some exceed 700N!!!
I think that means that they will drive a mill bed along quite easily?

They straight drive to a 2" pulley or toothed cog for bike chain (cogs from 1-2" across troughs)
Speaking of which I also have about 80ft of bike chain off the op's..... If thats wanted then I'll have to get it out of the skip asap!!

I like the idea of the making of a more permenant power unit, I'll get researching too....Got the transformers as you've seen   :zap:

David.... You seem to have spawned a "H" on the end of your name!?  :)
You have a reserve. Thought you might like one
We will have to figure out how to get them to you, (I'm only aiming for Harrogate on the Sat'.... Might if I can afford it try a stop over so I can go explore the surrounding moors etc?)  but after that it's as much as your mind can manage  :med:

everyone does have an obligation to post all progress.... Whoever starts first should expect a few posts to advertise the other models of modified motors available, well I would  :borg:

I want this on my machine as soon as I can..... I've got things to do and I want them done bettererer!!

Want to save my arms too! I'm not getting any younger you know!!?

So just to recap.... That's 3 possibly 5 (if two axis required?) gone.... Obviously I'm keeping two for myself   I may get some more yet?

Right, off out to strip some more!

Ralph.

Bernd:
So Ralph are you saying that there are 5 people out there that their garage doors no longer work?

Bernd

sbwhart:
Ralph

Single axis will do me just fine
