Yeah, or the real nutjobs who superglue tractor heads onto a milling table!  :loco:

Bloody hell, never thought of that - cheers.
vtsteam:
Studs AND superglue for an interrupted cut.

So you can't really have a bit of kit like this without pulling it apart and having a look inside  :ddb:

No real surprises - three capacitors totaling 66,000 uF rated at 200v. One side of the bank direct to the earth terminal - the other to the gun via a humungeous power semiconductor and equally impressive clamping power diode. And some circuitry to arrange for triggering the semiconductor power switch, and charging those capacitors.

(I strongly suspect that the circuit is identical to the one in the Lynx manual I uploaded a few posts up this thread with the exception of the voltage indication)

You're the master of vintage industrial equipment, Andrew.  Thanks for the peek into the inner workings!
awemawson:
Thanks Steve ..... but VINTAGE ...

Those capacitors are dated 1997 ..... that's MODERN

I love the heavy braid straps leading all those electrons from the capacitor to the outside world, and that big switching (probably) Thyristor  :ddb:
