CNC'd Motorcycle frame - V twin

Guy in Australia is building up a neat bike. FFE (funny front end), CNC'd frame. The guy even machined up his own throttle bodies!

Looks very nice Eric,

But I have my doubts about the CNC'd frame being as rigid as the tubular one it looks like it is based on.

That is why tubes are used for framework, to impart rigidity for less weight.

Mind you, he might know a lot more than we do.

It might be possible, hard to say from the pictures, that he's using the engine as the main stressed member. Most modern sports bikes do that these days.
Making the frame just something to bolt all the bits to.

The engine is a stressed member in this case. The original frame for that engine is actually an aluminum twin spar. The other thing is that in race bikes, the stiffest is not always the best. Manufacturers are now building 'flex' into the frames.

It is a serious undertaking that he has been working on for several years. I think it is his 4th or 5th frame he has designed.

I am designing a frame for the same engine that Mario (this builder) is using. Mine is pretty much very minimal and used for suspension mounting etc...

If I ever build a motorcycle it will be a replica of the Scripps Booth Bi-Autogo


I would probably try for a better power to weight ratio and I would add power steering so that unlike the original someone would actually be able to 'ride' it!
