Hi all, A question for the collective, with a CI cylinder what material would be the best fo the piston, CI, brass or mild steel? Abraham |

I'd vote for CI. Graphite containing, same rate of expansion as cylinder, less tendency to rust (with steam oil coating) than steel (for steam), no tendency to electrolytic action with cylinder. (as brass would, if damp). |
