What is the situation regarding metal for you furnace ?
Is scrap expensive ?
Dave.
salvarane:
In Perugia to retrieve scrapt is difficult, the only place that could provide some aluminum alloys of old engines and parts of cars is the junkyard but it is not cheap, and another place is the green areas of non-organic waste collection made available by the public service, the municipalities of Perugia, but the employees are reluctant to give some piece of alloy, the municipality once it has acquired the wreckage, it keeps them jealously and then selling them in the market of raw materials used.
I buy bars of aluminum alloy at a supplier here in Perugia, they make me good prices. The problem arises when the alloy founded several times, in fact accelerates the production of slag in the molten metal and therefore I have to be careful not to melt the metal too many times.
Thanks your answer,
Eugenio.
awemawson:
Salvarane, the more times aluminium alloys are melted, the more opportunities there are for the absorption of hydrogen. This is especially so if any of your tools or crucibles are damp.
salvarane:
This problem could be solved using a degasifier ?
