Scott Vacuum Engine......
Manxmodder:
David, I somehow missed your latest developments and most recent posts on changes to the flywheel end.
Anyway, yes she's definitely gonna be a prettier looking engine with the double flywheels.
Nice work ......OZ.

Much appreciated. Thanks fellas!
I've started work on the crank discs.
Two off, 3" square x 10mm blanks. And aching arms.......
Topped, to 68mm o/d........
Skimmed. Finished at 3/8" thick........
Sleevelocked, sleeves. To increased shaft location length......
Drilled/ reamed 6mm, for silver steel shaft. Sleeves topped to 8mm dia. No discernible wobble, when spun on shaft.......
Time to make 'em look like crank discs!
If I mill away to centre line, as usual, (l/h disc). I guess the assembly would be "over balanced".
The r/h disk seems more, functional.
The present c/i piston and rod assembly, weighs 63gms.
Is there a quick n dirty, simple formula. Which I could understand. To calculate how much weight to remove from big end area?

Tom.
Thanks very much! I can work with that. (And the digital kitchen scales).......
I've been steadily reducing the flywheel's 1" wide rims. Not wanting to overdo it.......
Now, down to 5/8" wide.......
I think they look about right. Anyone care to comment?
I can still take more off.........

Manxmodder:
David, massive improvement, they look tremendous.
Proportionally to the rest of the engine they look grand, but also I think if they're thinned down any further you may start to loose the depth proportion of the radius on the cast section of the rim webs.
It's your decision but I think she'll look mighty when the crank is in and the flywheel centres are painted.
Looking forward to the next installation........OZ.
