Lee Breech lock reloading press mount
« on: October 19, 2014, 08:56:50 AM »
After reading and viewing a number of vid's on prepping 5.56/.223 cases and figuring out that a solid mount and one with a larger foot print would be needed to size the cases before trimming.
I also thought that a single stage O-press might be a good investment with a small base sizing die as a stand alone in addition to to the 550B. Considering I got carried away and bought about 14,000 5.56/.223 over the last 3 months. One of them deals I couldn't pass up.
This is the mount I came up with and made this morning.

1/2" plate was the perfect size for this project

Here is the press a cheap under $75.00 way to deprime / size the casings during the prep part of the reloading. I like to do a lot of casing in each step at once. I got carried away and bought 14,000 5.56/223 range pick ups. I can inspect etc. the brass befor it is run through my progressive press.

Laying out and taping, I went with 5/16-18 bolts since it would hold the press to the mount and the mount to the bench. With out any flex when in use. The military brass use a crimp and adhesive to keep the primer in place when used in full automatics.

Here are some types of the crimps, which have to be removed before reloading.

Cleaned and primed

Top coat

Finished with the press mounted to the mount, before some room on the bench was cleared, and mounted.
will have to get a picture on the bench.

That looks purposeful, Glen!

Takes me back to happier times.
In the loft with my Loadmaster. On the range, with my pistols........

All gone now.......  :(

Sturdy, red, what's not to like  :)

Get caught with one of those in the UK and you'd have some very fast talking to do...
Cheers!

Think you'd need to do some explaining if you had empty brass:/
Lovely bit of kit there ;)
