Simon's Engine |
(1/1) |
Pete W.:
Here are some photos of a replica steam traction engine, made by Simon, a neighbour of mine. It's a replica of no particular prototype and isn't powered by steam but by a small diesel engine, salvaged from a ride-on mower. The drive from the diesel to the wheels is via a hydraulic pump and hydraulic motors. There's a 12 volt to 230 volt inverter that powers a disco smoke generator connected to the funnel. The whistle is compressed air driven but Simon said he tried hard to make it sound like a steam whistle. So, the photos are below: I mentioned this first on a thread in 'Water Cooler' but had some PhotoBucket difficulties at that time. I've since had more PhotoBucket difficulties! P.S.: I've amended this post to delete links to photos on PhotoBucket and attached the photos directly. |

What a little beauty. Who cares about the diesel engine? I would be proud to own it and even more so if I had made it. Jim |
