John

If I were a few years younger I might be tempted to think seriously about making a bid. Definitely would be an interesting ride. Thanks for posting it.

If any of you Madmodders want to build any type of Hovercraft, including a winged one here's the place to go - Universal Hovercraft.

I have plans to build a small two seater from them. Have had the plans several years now. Don't know if I'll ever have the time or inclination to build it.

What a fun toy.

Several years ago there was a TV show that talked about Ground Effects aircraft that the Soviets built.

I believe that they were jet powered.

Sam..

The big one was an Ekranoplan, effect well known since early WW1, early '20s. Soviets first to actually exploit the effect seriously I think.

Once had a book about evolution of Seaplanes, with the huge sponsons they had, it was a problem to get them to land on water. Novice pilots panicked, shut off the power, and ran out of Surface Effect and lift at the same time. Often fatally. There has been a wildlife programme about Pelicans flying for a very long distance above the surf, not a wing flap to be seen ..

Might like to turn the audio off before you poke this link  :hammer:

I have a few modest talents. Knowing what I'm doing isn't one of them.

Not a good time for a sudden cross wind!!!!!
From an early age my father taught me to wear welding gloves . "Its not to protect your hands son, its to put out the fire when u set yourself alight".

Forget about the price of gold and oil, its the price of beer that matters.
